Google Business Profile Optimization Checklist

Optimize your Google Business Profile for Maps: categories, NAP, photos, posts, Q&A, review velocity, and a review QR habit that keeps feedback flowing.

Your Google Business Profile (GBP) is often the first page customers see. Use this checklist to tighten the basics, then layer on a review habit.

Profile completeness

  • Business name matches your real-world brand (no keyword stuffing)
  • Primary category is exact; add relevant secondary categories
  • Address / service area is accurate
  • Phone and website are correct (NAP consistency)
  • Hours include holidays and special hours
  • Attributes filled (wifi, parking, women-led, etc.)

Photos & visuals

  • Logo and cover image
  • Interior / exterior photos
  • Team and product photos
  • Fresh photos monthly beat a one-time dump

Posts & updates

  • Weekly Google posts for offers, events, or tips
  • Link posts to a landing page or booking flow when useful

Reviews system

  • Reply to every review within a few days
  • Ask for reviews after great visits
  • Use a Google review QR code at the point of experience
  • Track themes from praise and complaints
